Tesacer ceramics liners for Karara Magnetite Project
Trelleborg have successfully completed the supply and installation of Tesacer ceramics liners for all of the chutes and hoppers to the Karara Magnetite Project project. All works have been carried out in our Kewdale facilities in Western Australia.
Protecting the chutes and hoppers against the very abrasive ore being processed, the 1947 steel backed ceramic tiles were cut to suit the many varied angles of the steelwork framing.
Located 225km east of Geraldton, the Karara Magnetite Project will involve a A$1.6 billion integrated development of the world-class magnetite deposit to produce both high-grade magnetite concentrate and blast furnace quality pellets for export to north-eastern China.
The project includes a conventional open pit operation with an initial 20Mtpa mining rate; production of 8Mtpa of magnetite concentrate on site at Karara; rail transportation of magnetite concentrate to the Port of Geraldton from where magnetite concentrates will be shipped in Capesize vessels to China. The concentrates will then be further processed into blast furnace quality pellets in a new Joint Venture Pellet Plant, to be located adjacent to Ansteel’s integrated Bayuquan Steel Mill at Yingkou, north-eastern China.
