| Omega type seals are commonly used for providing an seal between two adjacent concrete segments of an underwater submerged tunnel. These seals are usually fabric reinforced and subjected to large movements in up to three dimensions. The seal acts as a membrane mounted over the area between the tunnel sections. The number of internal fabric layers is dependant on the maximum hydrostatic pressure and safety factor. |
